প্রশ্নের বিষয় virus disease
প্রশ্নের বিস্তারিত How can we manage Yellow Mosaic Virus disease of mungbean
মতামত
বিস্তারিত মতামত

The most economic and sustainable strategy to control Yellow Mosaic Virus (YMV) is use of resistant/tolerant variety (BARI Mung-5 and BARI Mung-6) along with cultural practices includes roughing of virus infected plant and removal of alternate hosts. Adjustment of sowing date is an effective approach in reducing the incidence of YMV through escaping the disease. Foliar sprays with Admire 200 SL (Imidachlorpid) @ 0.25 ml/litre, 2 to 3 times following 7-10 days interval from the first sign of disease appear is likely to have fair to good control when continued to harvest. Thorough coverage of the plants is required.

প্রশ্নের বিষয় seed quality
প্রশ্নের বিস্তারিত How seed quality of pulses can be maintained
মতামত
বিস্তারিত মতামত

Quality seed production is an important issue for better yield and it may be deteriorated by several ways. So, some imitable techniques to maintain seed quality are listed below:

Â

  1. Technical control during seed multiplication;

  2. Abstaining from volunteer plants;

  3. Avoiding natural crossing and disease infection;

  4. Rouging off-type plants;

  5. Inspections by the seed certification agency;

  6. Testing genetic purity by grow-out tests, and

  7. Adoption of recommended agronomic practices

প্রশ্নের বিষয় Climate change
প্রশ্নের বিস্তারিত Climate change is a major problem for maintaining stability of potential yield of pulses. What kind of research activities are going to cope with this situation.
মতামত
বিস্তারিত মতামত

Global climate is gradually changing, particularly the trend of increasing ambient temperature which has been contributing to outbreak of diseases. Some minor diseases and insects are becoming major causing epidemic situation. Changing of relative humidity and temperature also may increase and decrease the severity of different diseases of pulse crops. Research program has taken to develop short duration, heat and drought tolerant, photo and thermo insensitive varieties having potential for withstanding the long range of climatic variations and weather factors.

প্রশ্নের বিষয় Pulse production
প্রশ্নের বিস্তারিত What are the major problems for pulse production in Bangladesh
মতামত
বিস্তারিত মতামত

The major problems of pulses production in Bangladesh are diseases, insects, drought, excess soil moisture, salinity etc. More than 125 diseases and 30 insect pests attack pulse crops in every year that limit seed yield as well as deteriorate seed quality. Now a day, some minor diseases are also becoming a major threat due to influence of changing environment.  Besides these, pulses are highly sensitive to microclimate changes and can not tolerate extreme heat or cold temperature which has been prevailing in some regions of Bangladesh in recent years that also might be due to the consequences of global climate change. Again the productivity of these crops is low compared to other cereal crops like rice, maize, wheat etc. because of their inherent low yield potentiality. Moreover, negative response to high management practices (irrigation, fertilizer application etc.) also can reduce yield.

প্রশ্নের বিষয় Request for suggestion
প্রশ্নের বিস্তারিত Sir, Could you please inform whether wheat could be cultivated in the soil which becomes more salty during winter in coastal Chor area. if possible what is the variety @ from where Seed could be collected ?
মতামত
বিস্তারিত মতামত

BARI Gom 25 released in 2010 is saline tolerant wheat variety. It can tolerate salinity level of 8-10ds/m.

 Seed can be collected from Regional Wheat Research Centre, BARI, Gazipur or from nearly BADC sale centre.

প্রশ্নের বিষয় Bt brinjal
প্রশ্নের বিস্তারিত What is the agricultural importance of brinjal cultivaiton in Bangladesh?
মতামত
বিস্তারিত মতামত

Brinjal is a primary source of cash income for resource-poor farmers in Bangladesh. Currently, 7.8 percent of the land under vegetable crops, 64,208, hectares is decicated to growing about 340,000 metric tonnes of brinjal per annum. However, this is only 1.1 percent of the world's production. Brinjal crop productivity is lower in Bangladesh than in neighboring countries. The main growing districts in Bangladesh are: Bogra, Chittagong, Comilla, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Faridpur, Jamalpur, Jessore, Khagrachari, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rangamati, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Sylhet, and Tangail.

বিস্তারিত মতামত

ï»Maturity indices (the stage at which the fruits should be harvested) for mango:-

 i)  Slight colour development on shoulders  ii) when one or two ripe fruits fall from the plant naturally and  iii) When the specific gravity of fruits ranges between 1.01 to 1.02. i.e. first mangoes are kept on bucket fall of water, if mangoes submerged and go to bottom of the bucket, then it indicates mangoes are nature and ready for harvest.
