প্রশ্নের বিষয় anti-nutritinal compounds
প্রশ্নের বিস্তারিত What are the anti-nutritional compounds affect negatively in the nutritive value of pulses ? How can we reduce the toxicity of anti-nutritional compounds ?
মতামত
বিস্তারিত মতামত

Pulses have some anti-nutritional compounds like trypsin inhibitors, lectins, polyphenolic compounds, tannins, phytic acids, flatulence factors and allergens. In lathyrus, higher level of ODAP causes lathyrism in human and livestock. Again in pea, chickpea and blackgram has pectin like compounds which may cause allergic effect on certain individuals. The toxicity of these anti-nutritional compounds can be reduced by cooking or roasting because these compounds are heat liable. Steeping in water also can reduce many antinutritional factors in some extent.

প্রশ্নের বিষয় tolerate salinity
প্রশ্নের বিস্তারিত In saline area pulse crop can not tolerate salinity. Is there any saline resistance variety of which pulse crop can be grown in saline area ?
মতামত
বিস্তারিত মতামত

Most of the pulse crops can not tolerate salinity and still there has no saline tolerant varieties of pulses except cowpea. Hence, for saline or coastal areas, cowpea can be selected to grow. BARIFelon-1 is a promising variety having wide adaptability and can be grown in saline prone areas.

প্রশ্নের বিষয় Hybrid
প্রশ্নের বিস্তারিত Why pulse crop has no hybrid ?
মতামত
বিস্তারিত মতামত

Genetically pulse crops are self pollinated. But cross pollination also occurred in pegion pea, fababean and grasspea in some extent. Hybrid can only develop by crossing between two genetically distant varieties of similar species or by two genetically distant species of similar genus. But in case of pulses it is very tough to have genetically distant variety/wild cultivar/species as the genetic base of pulses is narrow. In pulse crops hybrids are develop for transferring desirable traits followed by advancing generations to get homozygous desirable lines which are selected to release as a new variety. Male sterility and self incompatibility which can help to develop hybrid, e.g., rice, but not reported in pulse crop except pegion pea.

প্রশ্নের বিষয় pulses storing
প্রশ্নের বিস্তারিত What is the major pest problem for pulses storing and what are the remedies ?
মতামত
বিস্তারিত মতামত

Bruchids (Callosobruchus chinenensis, C. maculates) are the major insect pest for stored pulses. Some control measures can be taken to reduce loss and maintain seed quality is given below:

  1. Before preservation seeds should be well dried (moisture level 8-9%). Preservation should be done in an air tight container like gunny-bag with poly-bag, plastic or metallic drum.

  2. For storing a small quantity of seed neem oil can be mixed @ 5 ml/kg seed.

  3. Using phostoxin tablet only one for every 100 kg seeds in an airtight container can keep the stored seed for about one year without infestation.

  4. Seed container should be kept away from the soil surface

প্রশ্নের বিষয় hydrophony
প্রশ্নের বিস্তারিত Sir, take my salam. I am interested to establish a Hydroponic Vegetable garden. But till now i didn't got any effective suggestion. Now i am here to you. Can tell me where i can get a training on this and from where i can collect the Metrs & Liquid.

Hydroponic Cultivation: Hydroponics is a technology for growing plants in nutrient solutions with or without the use of an artificial medium to provide mechanical support. Liquid hydroponic systems have no other supporting medium for the plant roots. Advantage: • Year round and off season production • No agriculture land is required. Open space, up stair, window space can be used • Pesticide free production • Early production than soil cultivation • 2-3 times higher yield than, soil cultivation Crops can be grown in hydroponic cultivation: Tomato, Capsicum, Lettuce, Straw berry, Cucumber, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Marigold, Crysanthonum and Rose. Usually two ways of hydroponic cultivation 1. Circulating system: Certain amount of essential nutrient element mix with water thoroughly and circulate it with a pump. It is necessary to circulate water solution at least 7-8 hours for better oxygen supply 2. Non-circulating system: Nutrient elements mix with water thoroughly but no need pump for circulation. However, it is necessary to make a space in between cork sheet and water level for better aeration. We can use plastic bucket, water bottle, earthen pot etc. in this system. At present, we have no training schedule for hydroponics.

It is informed that the Aloe Vera plant is maintaining as a germplasm in the Floriculture Division under Horticulture Research Centre, BARI. Bengali name of this plant is Ghrit Kumari. It is succulent plant and production technology is normal. It produces sucker and multiplies through sucker. Regarding uses, we don’t have any research findings. The information can be collected from internet.

প্রশ্নের বিষয় About BARI Gom 26 and BARI Gom 27
প্রশ্নের বিস্তারিত Hi, I am MSc student of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. I need information about the latest released wheat varieties, specially BARI GOM 26 & 27 for my research purpose. Please help me.
মতামত
বিস্তারিত মতামত

Wheat Research Centre so far released 28 wheat varieties of which BARI Gom 23 (Bijoy) and BARI Gom 24 (Prodip) released in 2005, BARI Gom 25 & BARI Gom 26 released in 2010 and BARI Gom 27 and BARI Gom 28 released in 2012 are recommended for commercial cultivation. All this varieties are high yielding and heat tolerant, resistant to leaf rust and tolerant to bipolaris leaf blight diseases. Of these varieties, BARI Gom 25 is tolerant to moderate level of salinity. BARI Gom 26 and BARI Gom 27 are moderately resistant to Ug99 race of stem rust disease. Moreover, BARI Gom 28 is very early in maturity and highly tolerant to terminal heat stress. Salient features of BARI Gom 26 and BARI Gom 27 are given below:

BARI Gom 26

The variety is semi-dwarf in height with high yield potential released in 2010. The grain yield ranges from 4000-5000 kg/ha under optimum management. It requires 60-65 days to heading and 104-110 days to mature. Spike is medium with 45-50 grains per spike. Grains are amber in colour, bright and larger in size (1000-grain weight 48-52g). The variety is tolerant to terminal heat stress giving 10-12% higher yield than Shatabdi under late seeding. The variety is tolerant to bipolaris leaf blight and resistant to leaf rust diseases with moderate level of resistance to stem rust race, Ug 99. The variety is highly tolerant to terminal heat stress and suitable for growing both in optimum and late seeding condition. It can also be grown successfully throughout the country except in areas with salinity level less than 6 dS/m.

BARI Gom 27

This is a high yielding, short stature variety released in 2012. It is 2-3 days earlier in heading than Shatadi. It takes about 60-65 days for heading and 105-110 days to get maturity. Grains are white amber in colour and medium in size (35-40g). Spikes are medium in size with 45-50 grains per spike. Grain yield under optimum management is high, 3500-5400 kg/ha. The variety is resistant to stem rust race Ug 99 and leaf rust and moderately resistant to Bipolaris leaf blight. Rapid expansion of this variety will combat the future threat of Ug99 race of stem rust in Bangladesh.
