Query Subject hydrophony
Message Sir, take my salam. I am interested to establish a Hydroponic Vegetable garden. But till now i didn't got any effective suggestion. Now i am here to you. Can tell me where i can get a training on this and from where i can collect the Metrs & Liquid.
Feedback Information
Feedback Message Hydroponic Cultivation: Hydroponics is a technology for growing plants in nutrient solutions with or without the use of an artificial medium to provide mechanical support. Liquid hydroponic systems have no other supporting medium for the plant roots. Advantage: • Year round and off season production • No agriculture land is required. Open space, up stair, window space can be used • Pesticide free production • Early production than soil cultivation • 2-3 times higher yield than, soil cultivation Crops can be grown in hydroponic cultivation: Tomato, Capsicum, Lettuce, Straw berry, Cucumber, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Marigold, Crysanthonum and Rose. Usually two ways of hydroponic cultivation 1. Circulating system: Certain amount of essential nutrient element mix with water thoroughly and circulate it with a pump. It is necessary to circulate water solution at least 7-8 hours for better oxygen supply 2. Non-circulating system: Nutrient elements mix with water thoroughly but no need pump for circulation. However, it is necessary to make a space in between cork sheet and water level for better aeration. We can use plastic bucket, water bottle, earthen pot etc. in this system. At present, we have no training schedule for hydroponics.

Wheat Research Centre so far released 28 wheat varieties of which BARI Gom 23 (Bijoy) and BARI Gom 24 (Prodip) released in 2005, BARI Gom 25 & BARI Gom 26 released in 2010 and BARI Gom 27 and BARI Gom 28 released in 2012 are recommended for commercial cultivation. All this varieties are high yielding and heat tolerant, resistant to leaf rust and tolerant to bipolaris leaf blight diseases. Of these varieties, BARI Gom 25 is tolerant to moderate level of salinity. BARI Gom 26 and BARI Gom 27 are moderately resistant to Ug99 race of stem rust disease. Moreover, BARI Gom 28 is very early in maturity and highly tolerant to terminal heat stress. Salient features of BARI Gom 26 and BARI Gom 27 are given below:

BARI Gom 26

The variety is semi-dwarf in height with high yield potential released in 2010. The grain yield ranges from 4000-5000 kg/ha under optimum management. It requires 60-65 days to heading and 104-110 days to mature. Spike is medium with 45-50 grains per spike. Grains are amber in colour, bright and larger in size (1000-grain weight 48-52g). The variety is tolerant to terminal heat stress giving 10-12% higher yield than Shatabdi under late seeding. The variety is tolerant to bipolaris leaf blight and resistant to leaf rust diseases with moderate level of resistance to stem rust race, Ug 99. The variety is highly tolerant to terminal heat stress and suitable for growing both in optimum and late seeding condition. It can also be grown successfully throughout the country except in areas with salinity level less than 6 dS/m.

BARI Gom 27

This is a high yielding, short stature variety released in 2012. It is 2-3 days earlier in heading than Shatadi. It takes about 60-65 days for heading and 105-110 days to get maturity. Grains are white amber in colour and medium in size (35-40g). Spikes are medium in size with 45-50 grains per spike. Grain yield under optimum management is high, 3500-5400 kg/ha. The variety is resistant to stem rust race Ug 99 and leaf rust and moderately resistant to Bipolaris leaf blight. Rapid expansion of this variety will combat the future threat of Ug99 race of stem rust in Bangladesh.

Query Subject control weed in hill area
Message plese advise me how to control weed in hill area. how can i apply weediside in may & june
Feedback Information
Feedback Message

Weeds are one of the major and complicated pests is our crop fields. Hill area is quite different in weed infestation from other plain region in our country. In weed management, firstly we should consider which type of weeds and which crops are present in the target places. Without any information regarding weeds and crops of a specific location, it is not wise to recommend any control measure. However, Round up @ 1 Litre/ha can be applied in case of bare/fallow land weeds (where crop is not present).

You can cultivate Garlic in your home town. Garlic is frost hardy plant requiring cool and moist period during growth and relatively dry period during maturity of bulb. Bulbing takes place during longer days and at high temperature, exposure to low temperature subsequent to bulb formation, favours the process. The critical day length for bulbing of 12 hrs, along with, temperature also affects bulbing. Exposures of dormant cloves or younger plants to temperature of around 200C or lower depending upon varieties for 1-2 months hastens subsequent bulbing.

I think you region may have aforementioned condition during mid October to December.
